Birthday Double Bill: Armstrong + America

Happy birthday, Louis Armstrong, whatever date you chose for it:

While you’re at it, visit Ricky Riccardi’s insightful, warm blog about Satch’s music, read through Terry Teachout’s well-researched biography of Armstrong and listen to the several thousands of clips available on YouTube.  Between the music, the stories and all those Independence Day reflections (plus plenty of grilled meats!), you’ll be too overjoyed to even remember to thank me.  I won’t take it personally.

Happy holidays, birthdays and all the days, to everyone.
